cafe-de-chamarel

The work experience I gathered at Redhouse advertising enabled me to develop my skills in Graphic design and yet incorporate my sketches and hand drawings to create a more rustic, original feeling to the posters. I strongly believed this project had to be viewed as an authentic part of our Mauritian Culture. Café Chamarel more than being a product, to me it was a Mauritian heritage. The strong cultural ethos was brought to my attention when I met Julien, Anne Marie and Cindy who were so passionate about their work. They were welcoming, a bit shy each time I would take their pictures but eventually, I captured their essence of the coffee making process. The perfume of coffee, the sound of coffee beans rustling in my mind were my inspiration for keeping a unity int he deployment of the shop ‘habillage’ and packaging.
